The Shimadzu ELSD-LT operates by means of atomization of the mobile phase and the target substance, after which the mobile phase is evaporated and the target substance is crystallized. After that a tungsten/halogen lamp shines on the target substance which refracts the light. The refracted light strikes a detector after which a graph is created that shows the concentration of the target substance.
